It’s difficult to imagine a peace action without song!
As we build up to the action, we’ve gathered songs of peace, justice, love, and equality, that we can sing together on the day.
We’ve chosen simple, well know songs, so that we don’t need to be faffing around with bits of paper on the day (however if you are someone who needs words in advance, please find them here: Songlist). This does mean it’s useful to have a practice beforehand – below are videos of each of the 11 songs to help you. Why not arrange a singing session after meeting one Sunday?
- Dear Friends
- Ubi Caritas
- Singing for our Lives
- Building Bridges
- We shall overcome
- I will not fight with you anymore (Ali Burns)
- Dona Nobis Pacem
- When death was behind me (Ali Burns)
- Shalom, My Friend
- Vine and Fig Tree
- We Will Stop You (adapted version of We Will Rock You)
Singing for our Lives
We shall overcome
I will not fight with you anymore (Ali Burns). No video available, the lyrics are:
I will not fight with you any more,
For the road is long and hard,
And I need all my strength,
Yes I need all my strength,
Yes I need all my strength to keep on walking
Sister I will not fight,
The road is long and hard,
I need my strength,
I need my strength to keep walking.
